Abstract
The article highlights the updated recommendations of the European Society of Cardiology (2023) for the management of patients with diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Basic laboratory tests for diagnosing diabetes and prediabetes are given. A new scale for assessing cardiovascular risk in patients with diabetes − SCORE2-Diabetes − is discussed, which is used in patients without severe damage to target organs and symptoms of cardiovascular disease (CVD). The principles of hypoglycemic therapy are considered, focusing on drugs with proven prognostic effectiveness. The main drugs for the treatment of diabetes in CVD are SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP-1 RA. Algorithms for management of patients with diabetes and coronary heart disease, heart failure, chronic kidney disease and atrial fibrillation were analyzed.
