Abstract
The review of 2024 European Society of Cardiology recommendations for the management of patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) contains updated and partially changed guidelines for the treatment of AF according to the basic AF-CARE principle, which includes C — «comorbidity and risk factor management» — handing over the appointment of the correction of concomitant diseases and risk factors; A — «avoid stroke and thromboembolism» — prevention of stroke and thromboembolism; R — «reduce symptoms by rate and rhythm control» — reducing the severity of symptoms by controlling the frequency of ventricular rates and rhythm control; E — «evaluation and dynamic reassessment» — examination and dynamic observation. The review is presented in two parts. The first part presents the main provisions for the treatment of AF — the AF-CARE principle. The components of the AF-CARE principle are highlighted: C — «comorbidity and risk factor management» — handing over the appointment of the correction of concomitant diseases and risk factor», which is considered initial and central to the management of patients with AF; A — «avoid stroke and thromboembolism» - prevention of stroke and thromboembolism The second part of the review considers the following approach in accordance with the main principle of the treatment of AF: R — «reduce symptoms by rate and rhythm control» — reducing the severity of symptoms by controlling the frequency of ventricular rates and rhythm control.
