Modern treatment of arterial hypertension: analisis of national or european guidelines

Abstract

During 2023-2024, two European guidelines for the management of arterial hypertension (AH) appeared at once: 2023 European Society of Hypertension (ESH) Guidelines and 2024 European Society of Cardiology (ESC) Guidelines. Recently, an update of the national “Unified Clinical Protocol for Primary and Specialized Medical Care “Arterial Hypertension” 2024 (3) and 2024 Evidence-Based Clinical Guideline were also published. The authors of the article, analyzed the national protocol on 2024 AH and 2024 ESC recommendations. Despite some differences in approaches and wording, their main provisions generally do not have fundamental contradictions were stated. In order to prevent the progression of cardiovascular risk both documents primarily direct the doctor and the patient to active cooperation. It involves both timely diagnosis using all available methods of verifying hypertension and target organ damage, and predictes early use of medicines to achieve target blood pressure levels, provided that antihypertensive therapy is well tolerated.
