Анотація
Упродовж багатьох років метформін був препаратом першого вибору в цукрознижувальній терапії хворих на цукровий діабет (ЦД) 2-го типу. Завдяки доведеній високій ефективності в профілактиці макро- і мікросудинних ускладнень ЦД і безпечності цей препарат згідно з усіма світовими клінічними рекомендаціями призначався на самому початку лікування захворювання і ніколи не зникав із лікарських призначень впродовж усього життя хворого на ЦД 2-го типу, а відмінявся лише в разі виникнення протипоказань. Так було і є. Проте сьогодні в Україні нерідко доводиться чути про те, що місце метформіну для хворих на ЦД 2-го типу змінилося і тепер пальму першості необхідно віддати похідним сульфонілсечовини (ПСС). Чи насправді це так? Чи дійсно змінилися позиції метформіну в сучасній цукрознижувальній терапії у світі і в Україні? Міркуванням над цими питаннями присвячений цей огляд.
