Abstract
The article presents the results of search for a connection between disorders of the psycho-emotional state in
young people and the occurrence of serious cardiac diseases in age older than 36-38 years. An analysis of a long-term Swedish
study was carried out, where 49.321 young men aged 18-20 before their conscription for military service were surveyed. The
obtained results showed a weak and statistically insufficient correlation between early manifestations of depression in young
men and the subsequent development of coronary heart disease in older men. In contrast to depression, the presence of anxiety
was strongly associated with the future development of coronary heart disease over the next four decades.
