Abstract
Actuality of the problem and the beginning of the high mortality rate of patients with pneumonia, as they were on a ventilator. Goal. Analysis and detection of possible causes of mortality in this category of patients. Materials and methods. On the basis of City Clinical Hospital № 3 in Vinnitsa, an analysis of 22 deaths from covid pneumonia, who were on a ventilator, was carried out. Almost all patients received antibiotics ceftriaxone or azithromycin at the prehospital stage, which were not effective. After hospitalization, the condition of all patients progressively deteriorated regardless of adequate oxygen support, but oxygen saturation on the day of transfer to the ventilator was 84.7% and the transfer was correct. Results. From our point of view, such a high mortality rate is also due to the possible destruction of the alveoli, which are involved in the infl ammatory process and are unable to with stand the oxygen pressure supplied by the apparatus during exhalation. Conclusions. Therefore, there is a need to maximize the use of extracorporeal methods for saturating blood with oxygen or using blood substitutes that are able to carry oxygen and improve microcirculation.
