Abstract
The article is devoted to one of the most common diseases of the musculoskeletal system - osteoarthritis (OA). It was given a detailed analysis of the etiology and pathogenesis of OA with the modern concepts of the immunological aspects of the disease. The attention was paid to the drug therapy, founded on the evidence-based medicine. The main groups of drugs currently used for the treatment of OA were highlighted. Pathogenetic substantiation of chondroprotectors application was given taking into account their pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics and application in comorbidities, particularly in diseases of digestive tract and cardiovascular system.
