Abstract
The results of examination of 400 patients with type 2 diabetes are shown. We formed 2 groups of patients, the first study group consisted of 125 patients with type 2 diabetes infected with hepatitis C and a second comparison group consisted of 275 patients with type 2 diabetes without hepatitis C. It was found that in patients with type 2 diabetes with hepatitis C virus, antibodies GADA and ICA were recorded significantly more often (41.6% and 5.5%), than in patients without virus (16.8% and 1 8%). Also, it was shown that the high activity of replicating hepatitis C virus is accompanied by deterioration of the compensation type 2 diabetesand decreased insulin secretion. Thus, it was proved that the hepatitis C virus may be a factor in initiating the development of autoimmune reactions directed to the ß-cells of pancreas in patients with type 2 diabetes.
