Abstract

In Ukraine, the prevalence of hypertension among all cardiovascular diseases is 46.8%, which is almost half of patients with cardiovascular diseases. In the article 135 case histories of patients with hypertension and their prescription letters were retrospectively analyzed. Formal VEN-analysis of Ukrainian National Formulary (6th edition) showed that drugs from «Cardiology» section were the most prescribed drugs — 109 (85.83% of 127 drugs that were prescribed in hospitals). Formal VEN-analysis of hypertension treatment protocol showed that public funds were spent inefficiently, the V group included only 76 drugs. Formal VEN-analysis of comorbidities treatment protocols showed that 4 (Aktovegin, Metamaks, Аevit and Essentiale) of 127 drugs prescribed in hospitals had the N index. Аevit and Essentiale were used as maintenance therapy. Not included in analyzed normative documents metabolic drugs (Metamaks and Aktovegin) were prescribed very often — 119 times (7.06% of total prescriptions), 16.19% of the total expenditure expenses were irrational.
